Writing Assessment Rubrics
A Complete Foundationā€“Year 6 Writing AssessmentĀ Framework
These rubrics have been designed as a developmental progression, with criteria that build from one year level to the next. This allows schools to assess writing consistently across the primary years while still reflecting the increasing sophistication expected of students as they progress through the curriculum.
The assessment criteria draw on the Australian Curriculum Version 9.0, the Victorian Curriculum Version 2.0, NAPLAN marking criteria and the 6+1 Writing Traits framework. Together, these sources have informed a comprehensive set of writing skills that reflect both curriculum expectations and the qualities effective writers demonstrate in authentic writing.

Individual year-level rubric packages are licensed for use by a single teacher only. The Foundationā€“Year 6 Bundle includes a whole-school licence and may be shared with all teaching staff within the purchasing school.
The rubrics may not be shared outside the purchasing teacher or school, uploaded to publicly accessible websites, resold, or redistributed without written permission from Oz Lit Teacher.
